THERE was more than a degree of inevitability about the announcement this week that Haworth's former fire station had been sold.
Campaigners who battled valiantly to keep the facility open knew that sooner or later, a sale would go ahead.
But it is testament to the determination and devotion of those who fought to retain the building that they refuse to simply lie down.
Prominent amongst them is Steve Thorpe, who has pledged that he won't give-up on efforts to restore firefighting provision to the village.
We wish them luck.
Meantime, let's hope that any future development of the Station Road premises by the 'mystery' buyer is sympathetic to Haworth's needs.
There will be plenty of people closely monitoring the situation.
