I AM pleased this year that the Christmas lights are much better, thanks to Bradford Council, Keighley Town Council and Keighley BID – Music star helps light up the town (Keighley News, December 1).

I hope next year will be even better.

What is disappointing is the lack of support from the main banks in North Street.

You would think the major banks that were bailed out by us, the taxpayers, when they caused the financial crisis in 2008 across the world, could at least put some lights in their windows.

If you are one of their customers, why not ask them why they are Scrooges!

Well done to some of the smaller shops, who have made an effort, but many more could at least put a few lights in their window, which in turn makes sense because shoppers will stop and look and maybe go in and buy some goods.
