I HAVE just read your front page story – Savage cuts will 'rip the heart out of community' (Keighley News, January 5) – which illustrates yet again just how far out of touch the powers at Bradford Council are.

The shocking news community centres are facing closure, together with the hard working and dedicated community workers having the funding for their posts chopped, beggars belief.

If the misguided officers at Bradford Council actually took the trouble to come to Keighley and witnessed the very many improvements and initiatives the hard working and committed community workers have implemented for the residents (and council tax payers), then they would see for once what incredible value for money they get from these people.

I would like to take the opportunity to publicly thank these people for all their hard work for the residents.

Mention must be made of our community worker, Pip Gibson, a totally dedicated lady who has been a tremendous and tireless worker for our area.

She and her colleagues are going to be a shocking loss to our communities.
