THROUGH your pages, I would like to thank the people of Keighley and the surrounding area for the wonderful response we had to our Christmas appeal again this year.

As always, many people have been so supportive and generous and it is through their support that we are able to run our community programmes, not only during the Christmas period, but continually throughout the year.

Almost daily throughout the month of December, people visited the centre to donate money, food, toys and warm clothing. At times it was overwhelming.

I would also like to thank the army of volunteers and supporters, who each year work hard to help us in so many ways. Many of these volunteers, along with local businesses, churches, schools and community-based organisations, work continuously to help us. We are so grateful for their support and generosity.

Finally, I would like to thank the Keighley News for its wonderful support in 2016. I am sure all the publicity you kindly give us helps us tremendously.

On behalf of everyone at the Salvation Army in Keighley, very best wishes for 2017.
