I AM disgusted to read that there is to be no inquiry into child sex abuse in Keighley – Inquiry into sex abuse of children is ruled out (Keighley News, January 26).
I accept other things are going on in the background and timing is paramount. But what about the council's 'duty of care' to its population of children?
The council works for us, not the other way round. What is it they are afraid of?
Where do we stand with child care and welfare in Keighley? Night after night, day after day we hear on TV how we must do more to care for our children and the children of other nations. We are asked to help stop the trade in sexual exploitation of women and vulnerable people. And yet we say no to an inquiry.
Don’t those people who are paid mega bucks per year to fill the positions of authority realise we are not just talking about the rape, abuse, exploitation and demoralisation of our children. We are talking about their failure to act against those who inflict such vile crimes against children. Shame on them.
