AFTER reading the letter – Absolute nonsense (Keighley News, March 2) – I feel there are several points that need clarification and, yes, Ms Horsfall, I have read the report provided by Bradford Council for the regulatory and appeals committee.

Yes, the WHO report dates from 2004, but many of its conclusions are just as relevant in 2017, which is why AVAI continues to emphasise them.

These points are: l don’t build incinerators in valleys where the local weather conditions can trap pollutants, which will accumulate and could cause health issues in the long term l don’t build them near populated areas – e.g. Stockbridge, Riddlesden and Long Lee; and l don’t put them near sports facilities – e.g. Marley or schools and nurseries, such as Strong Close.

Does Ms Horsfall realise she is tacitly agreeing with the above when she says “that all these points are noted”?

Her patronising remark that “this is difficult to put all that into context for the public” shows a lack of awareness, as there are thousands of people locally who understand perfectly what all the issues are if an incinerator is built nearby and have objected to the council and signed a petition to prove it.

A Plume Plot shows the fallout will affect far more than just the immediate area around the incinerator.

Finally, with regard to the comment made about pollution from the trains run by the K&WVR, the steam engines run mostly at weekends and not 24/7/365, as the incinerator would be operating.
