REGARDING the story, Second site may now be demolished (Keighley News, March 16), it was mentioned – and I quote – “no developer will use their own funding to demolish the building so the only conclusion is to use council tax payers’ money. I’m confident a commercial developer will then come forward to buy it.”

Well, as a council tax payer, I do not agree that a building should be demolished, paid for by local taxpayers, just so a developer can step in (thank you very much).

If the developer wants that site, any work that needs to be done should be paid for by the developer and not the local people.

We are told there is no money, local facilities are closed, services are cut back, all this is done due to difficult and very hard times.

In that case the council should tell the developers there is no money.

Why should local people pay their council tax when it is on anything and everything except their needs?
