BREXIT supporter Mr Fletcher makes claims of joy before we know how leaving the EU will affect the UK, never mind Keighley – Brexit joy jobs boost (Keighley News, March 23).

He needs to ask the 1.5 million expats living in Europe how the devaluation of the pound against the Euro is playing out.

Mr Fletcher needs to ask these 1.5 million expats how they feel about being used as pawns in the negotiation game.

Oh yes, many are retired and have served their country in the armed forces, paid their tax and are as patriotic as Mr Fletcher.

Mr Fletcher needs to ask the pro-British Gibraltarians how it feels to have their border closed, which has started as Spain makes the sovereignty a Brexit issue. Mr Fletcher needs to explain to Gibraltarians how it feels for their economy to be placed on the Brexit altar.

Mr Fletcher needs to explain to the British people about post-Brexit rising prices and continued austerity as the national debt given the Brexit vote stands at its highest level since the Second World War, as it reaches 100 per cent of GDP.

In a low-interest economy, maybe as a nation we can sustain this burden, but Mr Fletcher needs to explain how Britain will pay its way when we lose the strength of the EU.
