I WAS saddened to see the total destruction of the Keighley Boys’ Grammar School building recently.
It was a very good school and I have many happy memories of my seven years there, leaving in 1948.
The sad sight reminded me of the temptation I had over those seven years to run up and down the staircase strictly reserved for teaching staff only – just inside the North Street entrance.
I never had the courage though because of the wrath and/or punishment from the headmaster, Neville Hind, if I was found out. Now I shall never have the chance to succumb to that temptation!
Incidentally, are the air raid shelters under what was the playground still there?
