DID I read the item on the Wetherspoon's planning application correctly – New plans imminent for 'eyesore' building (Keighley News, June 22)?
Bradford Council planners have refused the plan over "concerns about the potential loss of a historic building and the impact on the character and appearance of the Keighley town centre conservation area". Are these the same planners who allowed the destruction of the iconic, historic old grammar school, the same ones who are going to permit another drive-through fast food outlet and retail units which will only have their bland backs facing out on one of the main approaches to the town, the historic buildings of East Parade?
I have always found that Wetherspoon's only make improvements with their plans, I cannot say the same for the planning department in Bradford. The lunatics really have taken over the asylum.
