I ASSUME the irony and hypocrisy of Bradford Metropolitan Council is not lost on the residents of Haworth.

From its well-funded Tourist Information Centre in the city centre, it quite rightly is pleased to extol our village in its portfolio of local visitor attractions. However, when it comes to funding for our local services, it is conspicuous by its absence.

Continued tourism is beneficial to all and ensures the vibrancy and interest of the village.

Our local councillors should not be stymied by the short-sightedness of Bradford Council. Haworth needs its public conveniences, a Tourist Information Centre and a regular yearly schedule of general maintenance.
