YOUR headline regarding the Aire Valley Retail Park and the fact no-one has signed-up yet to the planned multi-million pound shopping complex despite six months of marketing – No takers yet for retail park (Keighley News, September 7) – surely is a message to the developers this idea is a no-no.

In my opinion, flattening the area may have done Keighley town centre a favour and a nil response to marketing might be a good thing!

Instead of the manure tip it looks like now, this area could become 'a phoenix from the flames' – an imaginative mix of very smart residential apartments and small industrial units, plus a cultural building at its centre.

Keighley desperately needs to recapture its former glory. Would this area be a positive opportunity to add to the town's rich history?
