SEVERAL weeks ago I read on the Keighley News website the former Keighley Boys’ Grammar School building was to be demolished.
Surely, that’s an error, I thought. However, having arrived in Keighley recently, I walked along North Street, from the top of Low Street.
To my amazement and horror, as I stood at the top of Cavendish Street, my heart stopped and I shed tears. My alma mater had been obliterated!
Who in their right mind had signed the demolition order? Was Keighley Town Council consulted? Why demolish such a significant building, nay icon, belonging to Keighley’s long history?
I call upon the Old Boys of KBGS to rise up and call the perpetrators of such a heinous crime to account! Yours, in sadness.
