I AGREE with Mark Whaites that the shutters safeguarding Mother Hubbard's fish and chip shop should stay – Chippy vows to battle on in shutters dispute (Keighley News, September 21).
This is particularly so after the episode when all the windows were smashed.
It has also come to my attention that the pram shop and garages a little further on are secured with roller shutters. Nobody's mentioned anything about whether they are in keeping.
So it's sour grapes.
This is not about the massive cost of replacing the windows and the period of time the shop would be closed, it's about catching the culprits who do this damage and making them pay for it. And if they can't pay for it, maybe their parents should be made to pay.
The police can catch those responsible with DNA tests on the stones they throw.
It also might not happen if there were more police on the streets. Let's face it, the police station is only a stone's throw away from the chippy.
