THE main Keighley Remembrance Sunday parades, service and wreath-laying were fitting and moving occasions and they were followed by a most enjoyable lunch at Keighley Drill Hall for the veterans and guests.
Many people took part, perhaps 2,000 or more and more than 175 hot dinners were served.
I would particularly like to thank those who gave their time and efforts, freely, to organise all aspects of the event, in partnership with the town council, Royal British Legion and Keighley Shared Church.
Several businesses also provided quality services with great attention to detail.
The whole day was a wonderful example of everyone in the town working together and showed what a great community spirit there is in Keighley.
There are far too many people and organisations for me to record here, but I would like to express my gratitude and appreciation to each and every one of them.
I would like to highlight that Remembrance Sunday was also marked in the villages and towns surrounding Keighley, and I extend my thanks to all concerned.
COUNCILLOR MOHAMMED NAZAM
Keighley Mayor
