HOW is it when an election is on the horizon that Bradford’s Labour executive miraculously appears with big plans for the town – Rate cuts to bring new firms and jobs (Keighley News, March 29) – or am I once again being cynical?

Seems to be a lot of it about right now. Why did Labour wait until now to spring this super-dooper plan on an unsuspecting public, do they really think they will win votes by making more promises that will be shelved after the election?

This is not the first time glorified election promises have been made, only to disappear into the ether when the votes have been counted.

The fact is the tactic of ‘buying’ votes has again raised its ugly head – it happened with the controversial cemetery at the tarn, it’s happening with the incinerator and now this. Don’t be fooled by this underhand electioneering, it’s old hat.

Playing with issues that seriously affect our town, by individuals that have no interest other than votes and the amount of rates they can get out of us this year, is frankly disgusting.

Another good reason to get out of Bradford.
