HANDKERCHIEFS were out in abundance at the Keighley Film Club showing of Breathe at The Picture House on Sunday.
Breathe is a very emotional but uplifting film which recounts the true story of a polio survivor, Robin Cavendish, and his family and friends.
Robin was a truly remarkable man who, despite being paralysed from the neck down, was able to improve the lives of so many.
He was a true pioneer and advocate for living life to the full, no matter what your circumstances.
The producer of the film, which was shot in just seven weeks, was his son Jonathan.
The Rotary Club of Keighley held a retiring collection after the showing. Film club members and visiting Rotarians gave generously and the total collected was £133. This will be sent to the Rotary Foundation UK, where it will be supplemented by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. The resulting £400 will fund the vaccination of around 1,600 children, protecting them against the horror of polio.
Thank you from Rotary to everyone who attended the film and supported our collection, and thank you to The Picture House and Keighley Film Club for allowing us to 'take over' the foyer with our display.
