I THINK Bradford Council is trying to close down our town of Keighley and also our tourist attraction of Haworth.

The people of Haworth put on many attractions, such as the 1940s Weekend, and what does Bradford Council do to help them out? Close the public toilets down.

Well done Bradford Council, that should help a great deal to get the tourists to visit Haworth. Now the people of Haworth are trying to see if they can fund the cost of running the toilets themselves, so Bradford can have more money in its pocket.

I’d like to know how many toilets in Bradford that Bradford Council has closed down to save money?

When the traders cannot pay their rents and rates Bradford Council should please feel free to ask itself why.

I do not remember voting for Keighley to be part of Bradford, so once again Bradford can we have our town back and our money as well?

Or would you like to put a stone up at Crossflatts with the words “Keighley and Haworth RIP”?

* A Bradford Council spokesman responded: “By 2020 Bradford Council will have had £250 million cut from its budget. These cuts have forced us to take some tough decisions including either closing or finding partners to take on various public toilets around the district.

“We are delighted to have come to an agreement with Haworth, Cross Roads and Stanbury Parish Council for the running of the Haworth toilets.

“After a short delay, the toilets were handed over to the parish council. Once complete, this transfer will include the granting of a long Community Asset Transfer lease.”
