AS things go I will support MP Robbie Moore with his petition opposing the closure of Sugden End household waste recycling centre.

If the proposal by Bradford Council to shut the tip/refuse centre at Royd Ings Avenue in Keighley last year had been successful, then the epidemic of fly-tipping would have been enormous.

Now we must all support the campaign not to close Sugden End or the tip in Ilkley. If Bradford Council, or should it be 'clowncil', had any mathematicians they would come up with better ideas for saving money.

I think I have the ultimate solution. Here, particularly in Keighley, there are hundreds if not thousands of houses that have been extended. I say if you can afford to extend your property, in some cases by three times the size, and add many more bedrooms, then you can afford to pay more council tax. It's only fair. There is the chance for Bradford Council to raise the banding on all extended (multi-bedroom) properties and generate the necessary council tax. Also, a few years ago it was reported in the Keighley News that a certain area of Keighley owed approximately £260,000 in council tax revenue. I as a pensioner pay my dues every month, so these people who do not must pay the price and be taken to court.
