Reassurance on young mum's drop-in centre
As chairman of the new Keighley charity, Lilies of the Valley, I have read with interest your recent front page report and subsequent letters.
I would like to reassure any who have misgivings about our aims that No 72 Cavendish Street will be a drop-in centre for mothers and toddlers in our town.
Being a mum is hard work, often stressful, and for some it can be lonely. Lilies of the Valley will provide a restful, attractive environment where women will be most welcome to relax, breastfeed their babies, meet friends and be served homemade refreshments.
Volunteers from a number of local churches will help at No.72. As Christians, we believe passionately that all mothers, regardless of race or creed, need to be valued and treasured. We will network with other local services and agencies and provide information and support as requested.

Book may see light of day
I am much interested in the photograph you published of the staff and pupils of the Girls’ Grammar School, dated 1923, from Mr J Hill.
In 1994 I wrote a detailed history of the school for the 60th celebrations of the move from Strawberry Street to Greenhead. One of the problems I encountered was obtaining verifiable photographs of members of staff.
Ian Dewhirst told me the Local Studies library had a number of individual and group photographs of the period but that it was impossible to tell who the individuals were or what institutions they belonged to. In this photo the elderly lady looking off to the right is clearly Miss Atkinson, the headmistress of the time, and the one on her left answers the description of her formidable deputy, Marjorie Wilson.
Can Mr Hill or any of your readers identify the others? Sadly in the end the book was never published. Instead extracts from it were included in a small booklet and I used the first chapter as the basis for an article in the Yorkshire Archaeological and Historical Journal but I still hope that some day the whole thing will see the light of day.

Car park vigilante sought
In the week where the by now notorious Changegate car park in Haworth received further coverage, I thought that your readers may wish to be aware of a self-styled and presumably self-appointed vigilante who lurks in the car park of Sainsbury’s supermarket.
This “principled” individual, and I use the term very loosely, without knowledge of my circumstances or intent, saw fit to determine where I could or could not park and in their blissful ignorance came to an erroneous conclusion.
The diatribe address “Lazy Cow” was left on my windscreen in a pristine carrier bag (obviously not “principled” regarding recycling or global warming) by an individual who wished to remain anonymous, obviously not able to have the courage of his or her convictions, but more importantly making it impossible for me to respond personally to their unacceptable actions.
I would like, therefore, through your newspaper to inform the perpetrator that I am taking their threats seriously and that I am in communication with the manager.
Should they wish to inform the manager of their contact details perhaps this issue could be dealt with in a civilised manner.

Editor’s note: Have you been a victim of the car park “vigilante” or do you know who he or she is. If so we would like to hear from you. Please email me at malcolm.hoddy@keighleynews.co.uk or send a letter to me at 80-86 North Street, Keighley BD21 3AG
Expensive pub lunch
What a Happy Easter this is turning out to be.
Having visited the beautiful home of the Brontë sisters, Haworth on (not so) Good Friday we thought two hours would be plenty to put on the Changegate Road car park.
However, we were lulled into having a pub lunch rather than a sandwich and returned to the car to see the extremely rude attendant locking on a wheel clamp — we were precisely 15 minutes over!
He refused to reason and said he had to have £75 before we could have the car back, there were two others there at the same time suffering the same fate having parked outside designated bays apparently.
He insisted this is policy!!! To use a company called CARSTOPPERS??? Visitor stoppers may be more apt !!!
We made two big mistakes that have ruined the remainder of the Easter break, visiting Haworth in the first place and having the temerity to put more money than intended into the local economy by having lunch there — we will not be doing either again!

Ending violence against women
Yorkshire and the Humber has got the chance to add its voice to the largest-ever, cross-Government public consultation to tackle violence against women and girls this week.
The Together We Can End Violence Against Women And Girls consultation sets out action the Government has taken to tackle all forms of violence against women and girls.
It looks at what more can be done to challenge the attitudes that may uphold violent behaviour and what can be done to help women and girls feel safer.
It includes a review into police powers for dealing with serial perpetrators of domestic violence and a review of the sexualisation of teenage girls.
People can give their views via the Home Office’s quick and easy online survey, available at homeoffice.gov.uk/keepwomensafe.
