It’s happy times for Daisy the cow as she shares a moment with Simple Simon and Jill.

But there is danger in store for this bovine belle as Harden Players prepare to present Jack and the Beanstalk.

In the pantomime, Daisy is destined to be exchanged for a handful of magic beans.

Jack the hero plants the beans outside his cottage, then climbs the beanstalk to take on the giant, who lives at the top.

Carys Jones plays Simple Simon and Sarah Laker is Jill, while Jack will be played by Charlotte Stern. Detective Nabem and Sergeant Grabem will be played by Peter Whitley and Haydn Kavanagh.

A Harden Players spokesman said: “There will be the usual enthusiastic support of all the cast and chorus.”

The Harden panto has been written by long-standing members Amanda Petyt and Mark Coulthard, who have both performed in previous shows.

There will be shows from tonight until Saturday and next Thursday to Saturday at 7.30pm, with matinees on both Saturdays at 2pm. Tickets cost £5 for the Thursdays and £6 other performances, and are on sale at the newsagents in the centre of Harden.
