The Wizard Of Oz comes to Cullingworth Village Hall this month in place of the annual pantomime.

Cullingworth Amateurs, also known as CADS, are performing Adele Thane’s stage version of the classic story.

The Amateurs have gained permission to add musical numbers to the show rather than hiring the full Wizard Of Oz musical.

Thane’s adaptation of L Frank Baum’s children’s story is described as “utterly beguiling”.

It was premiered by the Boston Children’s Theatre in America.

Dorothy and her little dog live in Kansas, but they are blown to the Land of Oz by a cyclone.

At a loss on how to get back home, they embark on a fantasy adventure to find the wonderful Wizard of Oz.

Dorothy wears a pair of slippers she earned quite unexpectedly, and is protected by the kiss of the good Witch of the East.

Along the way, Dorothy picks up some delightful new friends, but she still has a way to go before discovering how to get back home.

The cast of Cullingworth’s version of the play includes Georgia Pickles as Dorothy, Louisa Mawson as the Cowardly Lion, Frank Selby as the Tin Man and Claire Pipe as the Scarecrow.

The various witches are played by Amber Craddock, Margaret Isaac and Sarah Holland, while Caitlin Arnold is Toto, Harrison King is the Wizard and Ryan Wilson is a soldier.

The Wizard Of Oz is presented from February 28 to March 1, at 7.15pm, in Cullingworth Village Hall.

Tickets cost £6 for adults and £5 for concessions, and are available by e-mailing cullingworthads@gmail.com or from the Gift Tag in Main Street, Cullingworth.
