Man Can’t Fly – a favourite with Keighley audiences – have started the new year with a bang by releasing an EP.

The band recently celebrated the record, called Take Me Home, with a sell-out gig at The Cockpit in Leeds.

Take Me Home follows debut single Don’t Waste My Time, which had airplay on BBC Radio 1 last year. The Bradford quartet appeared at Leeds and Reading festivals, plus Bingley Music Live, last summer.

“We’ve had the best start to a career that any band could hope for, but it’s still early in the day and we truly believe our best is yet to come,” said frontman, Ben Wadsworth.

“Don’t Waste My Time was a landmark for us, and people have been wanting more ever since. Now the wait is over and it’s something we’re exceptionally proud of.

“We have big plans for 2014 – this is just the start of it.”

The Take Me Home EP is available for download.

The gig was supported by the Dunwells – Guiseley brothers Joe and Dave Dunwell – who headlined the second stage at Bingley Music Live.

Man Can’t Fly will return the compliment by supporting The Dunwells at Leeds Town Hall on April 25.

A band spokesman said: “It’s set to be a spectacular occasion, at a spectacular venue. We’re honoured to have the opportunity.”

Man Can’t Fly is made up of Ben, James Waterhouse on guitar and vocals, Sam Connor on bass guitar and Oliver Cottenham on drums.

Man Can’t Fly criticised YouTube last year after an earlier music video was banned from the site for being ‘too popular’.

Their video for Take Me Home was removed, a decision based upon a rapid increase in the number of times it was viewed.

The video had gained 4,994 views in the two weeks it was available on YouTube.
