Teenage cheerleader Sian Reid is heading to Disneyland Paris for her first international solo competition.

Sian, 15, from Keighley, will take part in the Future Cheer Brings It On contest at the theme park next month.

She will be among members of Bradford squad Panache Cheerschool competing in various sections of the glitzy contest.

Holy Family School student Sian will compete in the Pom Solo class, while some of her Panache comrades will be in team events.

Sian’s mother, Vena, said: “This is a first for all of them in the Paris competition – Sian will do a solo, which she’s really pleased about.

“Panache have given Sian a routine and she’s been practising at a Bradford gym.”

Sian and her Panache teammates will also be able to perform their cheerleading routines in a parade through Disneyland.

Sian is a a member of the Panache Elite team, which won a place in this Spring’s world’s cheerleading championships in the USA.

The 13-strong team beat tough opposition from 14 other groups in order to represent both Yorkshire and the UK at the contest in Orlando The Panache Elite team had previously competed on Sky 1’s talent contest Got To Dance, where they achieved three gold stars from the judges.

Sian became the youngest member of the Rugby League World Cup cheerleading squad last year, when she joined the team at the age of 14.

She travelled across the UK cheering on the England team during World Cup qualifying matches.

Panache Cheerschool is owned and run by Robyn Morrison and her husband, Glenn Morrison, former Bradford Bulls player and now coach of Dewsbury.
