Silsden Town Band held its annual awards evening this month at Herriot’s Hotel in Skipton.

Members, families and friends were joined by representatives from the band’s sponsor, Co-operative Funeral Care.

Before dining, the guests were entertained by the musical group Saxuality, and were able to see a display of pictures from the band’s archives, organised by Tom Dunn.

The after-dinner speaker was former band chairman and present band librarian, Michael Binns.

He related experiences and memories from the world of brass banding, relating to both him and his wife, band member Mary Binns. The sponsors, Sylvia Somers and Michael Binns were presented with gifts for the work they had done for the band.

The Supporter of the Year Award was presented to David Loud, and the Harold Clough Award for Long Service was presented to Rosemary Wallbank.

Stephen Haigh was voted the Players’ Player of the Year, while Charles Doumani and Richard Gosling jointly won the musical director’s Player of the Year award.

James Loud and Robin Severs jointly won the Chairman’s Cup for Young Player of the Year, and Marie O’Horo received the Progress Shield.
