Keighley Blues Club members will worship the music of Jimi Hendrix and Cream this month.

Voodoo Room, the headliners at the latest club night, promise to pay tribute to both classic acts.

A band spokesman pledged Voodoo Room was not a wig-wearing, pantomime tribute band.

He said: “They are celebrants of the music of both the original ‘supergroup’ and the most feted electric guitar genius of all time.

“Voodoo Room will perform an incredible high-energy show, delivered in the true spirit of the legendary superstars.

“The opportunity to experience the thrill of this musical ride, as it was back then, is not to be missed.”

The set will include Cream classics like I Feel Free, Sunshine Of Your Love, Crossroads, Badge and White Room. For Hendrix fans there will be Hey Joe, Purple Haze, Crosstown Traffic, Fire, Manic Depression, Spanish Castle Magic and All Along The Watchtower.

A spokesman for the blues club said Voodoo Room was a new and exciting classic power trio, featuring some of the UK’s finest musicians.

Members of Voodoo Room have played for Stevie Winward, Little Mix, Duran Duran, Ben E King, Lulu, Paul Young, Fish and Thea Gilmore.

Support comes from Jack Blackman, whose music fuses classy songwriting and a folk sensibility with a blues influence.

The publicity blurb said: “As well as possessing an arresting and authoritative voice, Jack is arguably the best slide guitar player of his generation.

“On a recent trip to the Mississippi Delta, Jack performed gigs at various venues and radio stations, culminating in a memorable performance at Morgan Freeman’s Ground Zero Blues Club.”

Voodoo Room play Keighley Blues Club, at the Cougar Park Hall of Fame, on February 28.
