Austwick Community Players will bring their own brand of comedy to the stage early next month.

The 2014 production – Oil Tek The High Road – has a topical theme with a Caledonian flavour, a Western touch, a hint of Eastern delight and plenty of Yorkshire humour. Each year the show is written, produced and performed by people from the Dales village.

The opening night next Thursday is for the over-65s in Austwick and Lawkland parishes, and includes a free supper.

The Players then throw open the show to the public on the following two nights – March 7 and 8 – to help pay for the over-65s evening.

The doors open at 7pm at Austwick Parish Hall. Tickets, priced £6 for adults and £2.50 for children, are available from Crossleigh Stores or by calling 01524 251415.

Meanwhile, in Settle, botanical artist Sandra Fernandez is exhibiting her work at the Lime Gallery in the town’s Courtyard complex.

Sandra, a widely published illustrator, trained at the Royal College of Art, is a long-standing member of the Society of Botanical Artists.

The exhibition – Drawn to Nature – highlights the beauty of the natural world. It runs until March 12.
