Renowned young singer-guitarist Chantel McGregor is headlining the first blues night at the Octagon club in Keighley.

Chantel, from Bradford, is being promoted as one of the most exciting rock and blues musicians the UK has ever produced.

Her publicist raves about her effortless virtuosity, flights of incendiary guitar and moments of poise, grace and fluidity.

He adds: “Imagine the tone of Robin Trower, the inspiration of Hendrix, the influence of Stevie Ray Vaughan, the energy of Bonamassa, the intensity of Walter Trout and the haunting vocal of Stevie Nicks.”

Chantel became the youngest person in the country to pass a Rock school exam at the age of eight, and she was jamming in Bradford at 12.

She enrolled at Leeds College of Music as a teenager, finishing with a First Class Honours degree in Popular Music and a prize for outstanding musicianship.

Since turning professional, Chantel has twice supported American blues giant Joe Bonamassa on tour.

Her debut album – Like No Other – released in 2011 and including songs from well-known musicians, was produced by Livingstone Brown who has worked with Tina Turner, Bryan Ferry and Bill Withers.

Chantel said: “Playing live to great audiences is one of the most wonderful feelings.

“I feel so lucky to be able to do something I love, see the world and bring happiness to others through my music.

“I really enjoy creating my own songs – it’s a fantastic way of being able to say what I wouldn’t normally say in everyday life and getting my feelings out.”

Chantel was voted Guitarist of the Year and Female Vocalist of the Year at the British Blues Awards last year.

Chantel will play Pennington’s Octagon Live in Bradford Road, Sandbeds, on March 23. Call 01274 562252 for further information.
