The time-hopping guys from Black Horse Fairy stop off in the 21st-century for a gig on Saturday.

Fanny Ferris and her band will perform at the latest Groovy Happening at the Parkside Social Club in Haworth.

They share the bill with Caledonia Road, Guello and Groovy regular Emily Sargant, and there will also be a disco and raffle.

Groovy spokesman, Ann Wiles, said: “Black Horse Fairy return with a vengeance to headline the March Groovy Happening.

“The five-piece band of time travellers will be performing a set of original songs written for aesthetes and dead beats in their own inimitable style. They tell tales of dystopian futures, anti-heroes and the darkest of love.”

Caledonia Road are an indie-folk band based in Keighley, who promise a mixed bag of treats for lovers of real music.

Ann said: “They feature the blistering lead guitar of Alex Waterman, mellow bass lines of Ross Elliot and the local vocals and rhythmic styling of Frankie Anderson.”

Guello comprises Mark Edwards on guitar and Katherine Martin playing cello. Ann said there would be songs from the heart written by Mark, with influences including Nick Drake, Jon Martyn and the Beatles.

She added: “Mark and Katherine both work in mental health and use music as a therapeutic tool to improve and raise awareness for everyone.”

Taking up her guitar for the umpteenth time at the Happening will be singer-songwriter Emily Sargant, described as ‘Haworth’s sweetheart’.

Ann said: “Emily is a firm favourite of Groovy audiences.”

The Groovy Happening in organised by a small group of volunteers to raise money for Manorlands hospice. Doors open at 7.30pm, and admission is £3.
