The new Summer Jam music festival coming to Silsden this year is aiming to recapture the buzz of the community events that inspired it.

Event organisers say they will be bringing back some of the most popular acts.

The camping festival on Riverside Fields takes place on August Bank Holiday – August 22 to 24.

It will be putting on big names like Bruce Foxton’s From the Jam and Nick Harper, as well as well-known Yorkshire bands and top club DJs.

However, organisers will also deploy some of the musicians who made last year’s Silsdenbury Festival and the previous Diamond Do such a success.

Music lovers who attended Silsdenbury will welcome the return of popular local ‘beat’ band The Big Bang, performing 60s classics inspired by the likes of Small Faces, The Who and Van Morrison, enhanced with their own unique interpretation.

The Big Bang were formed by Bingley guitarist Stan Greenwood after his band, Skeletal Family, split up.

The line-up consists of four experienced local musicians – Stan on guitar, Silsden’s Keiron Nuttall belting out the vocals and guitar, and from Cross Hills, Steve (Captain Black) Wilson on bass and Bryan (BJ) Walmsley on drums.

Stan said: “The past two years when we’ve played at Silsden it’s been amazing. On both occasions, the crowd have been right behind us.

“Last year, there was a crowd of more than 1,000 people – and now we’re really delighted it’s becoming a major annual event, which is attracting bigger headlining bands.”

Also back by popular demand are Silsdenbury headliners Ska Face.

This outfit is fronted by Tony Montana, and features a four-piece brass section. The band is known for revitalising the Ska and 2 Tone classics of The Specials, Madness, The Selecter, The Beat and Bad Manners.
