A Keighley Indie and Blues musician has begun working with a top British graphic designer and photographer to help gain maximum exposure for his music.
Gaz Blackburn has enlisted the expertise and experience of Brian Cannon, who created the album cover for Oasis’ record-breaking debut album, Definitely Maybe.
Brian, whose company Microdot Creative is based in a studio in Lancashire, began his career in 1988 working out of his bedroom in London. Since then, he has gone on to design record sleeves for big names such as The Verve, Suede and Super Furry Animals.
Gaz, who released his debut EP on his own label last year, said he has been enjoying working with Brian, and intends to collaborate with him for all his future promotional material.
He added: “I’m recording my next EP and I’ve got a big year ahead of me.
“I’m currently uploading tracks onto the BBC Introducing site, and will have my second EP released some time in April.
“I’m continuing to record at City Sound studios in Bradford with Danny Yates – the frontman of White Light Parade – producing my tracks.
“I absolutely love making music and being in the studio. I’ve been playing piano and harmonica on tracks, as well as doing guitar and vocals. ”
Gaz was the founding member and songwriter for Keighley rock band Halcyon Days, but turned solo after the band’s members went their separate ways.
After supporting Jake Bugg and Rudimental at Aire Do 2012, and Lee Southall and Molly Jones at Woodfest the same year, he met producer, songwriter and musician Danny Yates, which led to him recording sessions at City Sound.
