The tale of the ugly duckling was brought to life by a Silsden dance group.

The Elizabeth Phillips School of Dance portrayed the fairytale for two nights at Glusburn Institute.

They danced and acted the story of the duckling who was pushed out of the nest by the other ducks and had to fend for herself until she realised she was in fact a beautiful swan.

Beverly Chapman took the lead role of the Ugly Duckling, with Lucy Holroyd as the Water Fairy and Shannon Hooper as the Swan Queen.

Other senior students took the roles of the fox and farmer’s wife and the ducks.

The second half of the show was inspired by jazz music.

All proceeds from the performances will be given to local children’s charities.

The Elizabeth Phillips pupils last year presented a story about Peter Pan’s friend Tinkerbell’s efforts to become a nature fairy.

The second half featured dances set to themes from well-known films.

In previous years the school’s annual show has featured the story of Snow White, blue-themed music, and dancing with Glee. The dancers were among local performers who took part in the recent reopening of Silsden Town Hall.
