He may be a pensioner this year but Sooty is still as mischievous as ever.

The popular bear, currently touring the country, will stop off in Ilkley for two performances on April 23.

Sooty is celebrating his 65th year in showbusiness, along with his canine chum Sweep.

The Sooty Show also stars panda friend Soo and human pal Richard Cadell.

The quartet’s latest stage show sees them get caught up in a wonderful world of magic, mischief and mayhem.

A spokesman said: “Whether it’s children discovering the characters for the first time or adults enjoying the nostalgic experience with their little ones, The Sooty Show Live is for the whole family.

“With all the charm that Sooty fans, young and old have come to expect, this is a show that captivates its audience.”

Sooty said: “I’m really looking forward to meeting Sooty fans old and new – and I can’t wait to squirt the Mums and Dads with my water pistol!”

Richard took over the challenging job of dealing with Sooty from Matthew Corbett, who many years before had inherited the role from his father Harry.

The Sooty Show’s at King’s Hall, Ilkley, on April 23 at 11am and 2.30pm. Call 01274 432000 or visit bradford-theatres.co.uk to book tickets.
