Cara Dillon’s voice is a thing of wonder that locks into the humanity at the heart of ancient songs.
So says the Guardian newspaper, and its critic isn’t the only one to rave about the singer from County Derry.
Local folk fans can check out the hype when Cara performs at the Victoria Hall in Saltaire on April 25.
Cara was brought up in a close musical family immersed in the rich cultural heritage of her native county.
She won the All Ireland Traditional Singing Trophy aged 14 and went on to sing with Oige, De-Dannan and then Equation.
Her solo album Hill Of Thieves has become a modern folk classic, and she performed on the latest series of the TV show Trans-atlantic Sessions.
At Saltaire, as part of a UK tour, Cara will perform songs from upcoming album A Thousand Hearts alongside old favourites.
