Ben Waters’ regular blues and roots session has settled into its new home in Haworth.

Singer-songwriter Ben said the monthly nights at the Old Sun were proving very successful.

He said: “We have a fantastic line-up of acts booked up for the rest of the year.

“We will be bringing the best acoustic blues and roots music from the region and beyond to Haworth.”

The residency continues on April 26 with two acts that Ben – who himself performs across the region –describes as top-quality.

He said the headliners Chris Martin and Scott Wainwright were two talented and experienced solo artists, who had joined forces.

He said: “Batley based blues man Chris Martin has teamed up with Barnsley based blues dude Scott Wainwright to form a highly amusing and entertaining duo.

“Mixing self-penned blues stomps, traditional blues songs and gospel hollers with a large amount of humour, these two men keep their audiences in high spirits.”

Chris sings, plays Resonator guitar and acoustic slide guitar, and tells tall tales.

Scott sings, plays acoustic guitar and harmonica, and stomps his foot, creating a rambunctious sound.

Support on April 26, comes from Rich Bower, a Leeds-based singer-songwriter who draws on influences from the folk and blues traditions.

Ben said: “Rich’s superbly-crafted songs and excellent musicianship portray emotions that are both personal and universal.”

Ben’s blues and roots night was established last year at the Great Northern pub at Ingrow, but after several successful months he moved to Haworth, following the departure of landlord Mickey Thompson.
