It has been another very busy month on the railway, both in terms of passengers enjoying travelling on the trains and heritage bus service we operated over the school holiday; and also behind the scenes.

Plans for our operation during Le Grand Depart weekend are now well advanced, and with visitor hubs in Keighley and Haworth we expect to be busy. The latest details are available on kwvr.co.uk

Over the past month, we dedicated our two War Department locomotives as part of the Hawoth 1940s weekend in the presence of representatives from the UK and USA military, which reflects the heritage of the two steam engines at the centre of the ceremony.

It was a great reminder of how important our work is in remembering an important part of the our industrial heritage that would otherwise be lost.

Rolling the clock forward several decades, we have reflected a more modern era of railway history at our diesel weekend. We welcome a number of visiting diesel locomotives that run alongside our home fleet to the delight of passengers.

Whilst many prefer seeing steam engines working on the line, the diesel era is another part of railway history that needs presenting, so I am very pleased that we can welcome diesel as well as steam haulage fans.

In other news, the railway's ambition to see a catering facility that meets our passengers' wishes has taken a significant step nearer being realised with Board approval for the project, subject to the finer points of the finance for the project being agreed to our satisfaction.

The facility that we are planning will allow us to provide a seated dining area and a kitchen to provide the meals of a quality that our passengers have demanded for years.

We are also working hard with other partner organisations based at Ingrow station (the Museum of Rail Travel and the Ingrow Loco museum) to develop closer links with schools, and are looking forward to the completion of the conversion to an educational resource of the carriage located at the station.

As ever, if you have any comments do please get in touch. Our website, kwvr.co.uk, has details of train times and operating dates.
