THE SKELETAL Family are returning to the live scene by playing the world’s biggest alternative music festival.

The Keighley goth rock heroes will share the stage at Alt-Fest with The Cult, Killing Joke and Marilyn Manson.

A clutch of warm-up gigs is likely to see the Skeletals playing Keighley on August 9.

They will also play King George’s Hall in Blackburn on August 8 and Wolverhampton Slade Rooms on August 14.

Fans are in for a triple treat however, as the band – fronted by Anne Marie Hurst -- celebrates the 30th birthday of its first number one album Burning Oil.

Cherry Red Records plans to release a three-disc CD set to mark the anniversary.

The Skeletals will then head off into the studio later this year to record an album of new material.

Skeletal Family musician Roger “Trotwood” Nowell said: “The Skeletal Family have been quiet of late.

“Anne Marie underwent a knee operation in January, which kept us off the road. We’ve only done Preston and Crew this year so far.

“We have dates at the O2 Academies in October with Salvation.”

Salvation – fellow members of the 1980s alternative music scene – will be at the O2 in Sheffield on October 3 as part of the six-date tour with Skeletal Family.

Alt-Fest is held on the Boughton Estate in Kettering, Northamptonshire, from August 15-17.

The Skeletal Family will join an extensive line-up that also includes Arch Enemy, Fields Of The Nephilim, Atari Teenage Riot, Suicide Commando, Vampire Party and Zeromancer.

Skeletal Family was formed in Keighley, 1982 and took its name from the title of a David Bowie album.

The Skeletals’ first album, Burning Oil, recorded in four days at a cost of £640, topped the UK Independent Chart and the band toured with Sisters of Mercy.

The band split in the mid-80s, then reformed in 2002 with a new vocalist – then following other line-up changes some original members reformed Skeletal Family in 2012.
