If ever a play does what it says on the tin, then this is it.

Here is a play where everything goes disastrously, hysterically, hilariously haywire.

Props go missing, scenery collapses, lines are fluffed, entrances are missed, techies go crazy, actors are concussed.

So much happens that you’ll miss some of the gags because you’re still laughing at the previous three.

There’s nothing particularly original about the play’s concept, and I’ve see similar jokes before in the Farndale Avenue plays, or Noises Off, or The Two Ronnies.

But never have so many theatrical mishaps been in one place, and never have they been performed with such physicality, wit, polish and unparalled comic timing.

The set-up is that the nincompoops of the Cornley Polytechnic Drama Society are presenting their whodunnit The Murder at Haversham Manor.

The action begins half an hour before the official start time as a hapless stage hand tries to repair bits of the set.

Our laughter muscles are thoroughly warmed up by the time the “real” play begins – and they get plenty of exercise over the next couple of hours.

An absolute must-see comedy classic!
