MUSIC and arts will take a field trip to a hill above Silsden this August as a three-day festival sets up camp.

Independently organised festival, Fieldtrip, will take place in the panoramic location of Addingham Moorside from August 15-17.

The compact and bijou affair promises to focus on fun and participation, taking inspiration from the promoters’ world festival travels and distilling them into one beautiful boutique weekend.

There will be side stalls, a hand-picked selection of street food, live comedy, kamikaze karaoke, mud wrestling and unique little habitats to play in.

There will also be craft stalls and acrobatics as well as rap battles, a secret cinema, and real ales from Yorkshire breweries.

Darius Syrossian will be among the DJs performing during the weekend.

Organisers say Fieldtrip will be in intimate, 1500 capacity camping festival with the emphasis firmly on attention to detail, with a wide variety of live and electronic music, spread across seven specially designed arenas.

Rob Chadwick, of Fieldtrip, said: “Each arena will have its own themed environment, to make it much more inclusive and magical experience.

“Musical genres include drum and bass, dub step, funk, garage, house, trance, reggae, soul and techno.

“There will be plenty of participatory games, performance artists, no -expense spared production, and myriad other little flourishes to ensure Fieldtrip harks back to a simpler, more fun and engaging time before the corporate world took over.

“As well as a lovingly hand-picked selection of local musicians, brands, DJs and performers, there will be a smattering of international talent to really finish the festival in style.

“The music ethos is about quality, not what’s hot at the minute.”

Rob hoped people would be the festival with a new favourite band DJ.

He said: “Fieldtrip is a fun-filled, friendly affair that brings together the best creative and cultural offerings Leeds has to offer and does so with love, understanding and a welcoming smile on its face.”

Rob promised that similar care had been lavished on choosing the caterers, with many food stalls offering something quirky and unique.
