NOW THAT we’ve got over the excitement of our pop-up campsite over the Tour de France weekend, we’re gearing up to our next big event – our Family Fun Day on August 17.

This will be the fourth year that we’ve run the event, and each year it’s been bigger and better than ever. We’re hoping that this year will be the best yet.

The event, which runs between 11am and 4pm, is free admission and everybody is welcome.

If you wish to visit the house and gardens then the usual admission prices apply, but there will be plenty on offer at the fun day to keep everybody entertained.

We’ve got an excellent selection of stalls ranging from bakeries to gift companies.

Members of the Craven Old Wheels will be showcasing some of their classic vehicles, whilst the Friends of East Riddlesden Hall will be helping to keep everyone entertained with classic games such as hook a duck, a tombola and plenty more.

We’ve also got face-painting, music, bouncy castles and plenty of refreshments, although picnics are welcome if you wish to bring your own.

We’re really looking forward to welcoming everyone to our Family Fun Day. Last year we had nearly a thousand people attending, so we are preparing for a really busy and fun day.

We will have lots of our wonderful volunteers helping, and come rain or shine it’s sure to be a great day.

The Lord Chamberlain’s Men will be bringing their 10th anniversary production of Romeo and Juliet to East Riddlesden Hall on August 19 at 7.30pm. Ticket sales are going very well and the event is proving to be the most popular one yet.

The all-male cast promise an action-packed adventure with Elizabethan costume, music and dance. There’ll be action from the outset, jealousy, comedy, murder, banishment and the most famous balcony in the history of theatre!

We’re inviting guests to bring a picnic, settle back and be swept up in the romance, the drama and the passion that is Romeo and Juliet.

Tickets are priced at £15 for adults and £8 for under 18s and we recommend booking early to avoid disappointment. Tickets can be purchased by calling 01535 607075, by emailing carla.weatherall@nationaltrust.org.uk, or visiting our shop between Saturdays and Wednesdays from 10.30am to 4.40pm.

We are still looking for friendly, energetic people who can help us bring history to life in our house and share stories with our visitors. Volunteering your time is a great way to learn new skills, meet people and expand your horizons.

We’re flexible with the days that you volunteer and will cover your travel expenses, however, we would need a serious commitment. If you would like to find out more about the vacancies, please contact me on 01535 607075.

East Riddlesden Hall is open Saturdays to Wednesdays between 10.30am and 4.30pm (last admission at 4pm). General admission prices apply; however entry is free for National Trust members and under 5s.
