A BAND which proudly refuses to be slotted into any particular genre will be playing in Leeds.
Little Dragon, a four-piece group, was formed in 1996 in Gothenburg, Sweden.
Its members specialise in creating an evolving mix of R&B, electro, pop, jazz and dance numbers, all anchored by the vocals of their front woman, Yukimi Nagano.
The band's members met when they were at school together, and since then have completed three acclaimed albums.
Yukimi said: “When we’re making music we’re being 100 per cent ourselves, and the fact we are such good friends makes it really easy.”
Commenting on the group's early days, fellow band member, Erik Bodin, said: "We had all been struggling in session bands before, and we wanted to do something deeper. We wanted to be songwriters and to try and make something original.”
Little Dragon has played as a support act for the Gorillaz and today has a reputation for being at the forefront of experimental pop music.
The group will play at Leeds Metropolitan Students' Union from 6.30pm to 9.45pm on Friday November 21. Visit leedsmetsu.co.uk/events/little-dragon for details.
