A HAWORTH-based Children's author has taken a radical new direction by publishing his first novel which definitely isn't for kids!

William Forde, of West Lane, has released Rebecca's Revenge as an e-book.

It tells the story of a West Yorkshire woman who is abandoned by her mother, abused by her father, deserted by her lover and best friend and rejected by her village community.

Mr Forde said: "Rebecca's Revenge deals with the central theme of ‘rape and revenge’ and is set in the rural setting of West Yorkshire, the mills of Lancashire, the fashion houses of Paris, the business world and board rooms of New York and the idyllic setting of the Caribbean.

"It was written over 20 years ago, but I initially refrained from having it published because of my 'children’s author' credentials and charity work. I felt that it would have conflicted with the image I had taken a decade or more to establish.

"Now however, as I approach the final years of my life and care less about my public image and no longer write for children, I feel the time to be appropriate to publish this alongside the remainder of my work."

Rebecca's Revenge is available from e-book providers, and will also be on sale in hard copy from Lulu from early October.
