A NEW long-distance running from Saltaire to the Yorkshire Dales is to be included on the latest Ordnance Survey maps.
The Dales High Way runs through Ilkley, Addingham and Skipton then north through the Dales to Appleby-in-Westmorland.
The 90-mile walk will be laid out, along with more established paths such as the Pennine Way, on the new Outdoor Leisure Map OL2 Yorkshire Dales Southern and Western Areas.
It will be added to other Ordnance Survey maps as they are re-released.
Julia Pearson, chairman of the Friends Of A Dales High Way, said her members were delighted the path was now included.
She said: “It will introduce more people to the pleasures of walking through the glorious Yorkshire Dales.
“The whole world saw how beautiful the Dales are during the Tour de France, and now they want to come and see for themselves.”
Chris Grogan, co-creator of the trail, said: “Spending a few days on a trail and staying in towns and villages along the way means that walkers not only enjoy the countryside but the great Yorkshire hospitality.”
A Dales High Way is a high-level route inspired by its 45-year-old sister route. The Dales Way, which runs for 80 miles along riverbanks.
