SUTTON’S Green Hut Theatre Company is inviting children and adults to join the cast of its latest pantomime.

Chorus rehearsals will begin tomorrow at the group’s rehearsal studio – a green hut – behind Londis Stores in Main Street.

Anyone aged eight and above is welcome to go along at 7.15pm when work begins on the songs for Dick Whittington.

This year’s show, to be performed from December, a traditional family panto full of comedy, song and dance, romance and adventure.

Heroic young Dick arrives in London determined to fame and fortune, and immediately lands a job at Alderman Fitzwarren’s warehouse and falls for the boss’s daughter Alice.

Dick and his new friend, a magical cat, make themselves useful fighting off the rats who are stealing Fitzwarren’s grain.

But this is only the start of the evil rat king Balthazar’s plans: he intends to bring London to its knees and take over the city.

The ensuing adventure takes Dick around the world, amidst songs including Uptown Girl, Let’s Hang On, In The Navy, Celebration and Let’s Hear It For The Boy.

Dick Whittington will be performed at Sutton Village Hall from December 10 to 13.

Anyone interested in taking part, but unable to go along tomorrow, should call secretary Doreen Smith on 01535 632553.
