STEETON Male Voice Choir has performed for the first time in public with a new accompanist.

Pat Jones has taken over from long-time accompanist Anne Mott, who recently moved to York.

Recent recruits David Jones and Jeremy Law made their debut performances during the concert, at Woodlands Methodist Church in Harrogate.

Choir spokesman Eric Parker said: “The choir members have warmed to Pat during the changeover period since Anne let us know a year ago that she was moving.”

The choir will be joined by the Anston Male Voice Choir, from South Yorkshire, for a concert performance on September 27, at Keighley shared Church.

Eric said the choir was named after the village of Anston, which provided stone to rebuild the Houses of Parliament in 1840.

He said: “The choir celebrated its 40th anniversary in 2011, and with a current membership of 35 it aims to perform a varied repertoire, and raise money for charity.”

The concert begins at 7pm. Call 01274 598221 or email tickets@steetonmvc.co.uk to book tickets, which cost £8.

Tickets costing £10 are also on sale for the Steeton choir’s concert with the City Of Bradford Brass Band on October 11 at King’s Hall, Ilkley.
