THE BRADFORD Catholic Players need men to climb aboard the merry-go-round of their latest show.

The historic society is staging popular musical Carousel and needs more men for the cast.

The show is about mill girl Julie Jordan, who falls for and marries “handsome but uncivilised” carousel barker Billy Bigelow.

Things turn sour for the couple when Billy can’t find a job after the carousel has left town, and he and Julie are forced to live with her cousin.

Julie continues to love her husband, even when he takes to using violence.

When Billy discovers that Julie is pregnant, disaster strikes. In a desperate ploy to make money, Billy is persuaded by his friend, Jigger Craigin, to help him rob a mill owner. When the plan fails, there seems to be only one way out for Billy.

Fifteen years later, Billy is allowed one last visit to the Earth. Will Julie sense his love, and will Billy see his daughter happy and graduating from high school?

Carousel will run at Bradford Alhambra from November 19 to 22.

If any men would like to join the ensemble in Carousel. They should contact Anne-Marie Carroll on 07977 282365.

Bradford Alhambra will also host the musical Barnum, the story of the famous American showman and circus impresario PT Barnum, featuring Brian Conley from November 25 to 29.
