THE PAPERBOYS are performing on Sunday at the Live Room at Caroline Social Club in Saltaire.

The band were formed by Mexican born Tom Landa in the mid-nineties in Vancouver.

In a music scene dominated by flannel and grunge, Tom had a vision of forming a band that fused folk, Celtic and bluegrass music with pop and rock.

He was armed with a dozen of self penned tunes and a lot of drive and ambition.

After finding a group of musicians who shared common musical interests, Tom and The Paperboys recorded their first CD and toured Canada in a used van they bought for 500 dollars.

What has happened since is seven albums, many tours of North America and Europe, TV and movie appearances, movie scores, music awards, rave reviews.

The sound of the band has evolved a lot since the early days, and now includes horns as well as digging deep into Tom's Mexican heritage by adding Son Jarocho and Afro-Mexican grooves to the mix.
