DAMIAN Clarke will this weekend kick off the new season of Blues and Roots nights organised by Keighley singer-songwriter Ben Blue Waters.

Damian will play his trademark hammer dulcimer and hurdy-gurdy during the concert at the Black Bull, Main Street, Haworth, on Sunday evening. (November 30)

Damian promises passionately-delivered songs, both on his instruments and unaccompanied, with a chance for the audience to join in.

Damian’s concert at the Black Bull comes after many UK and European tours.

The Blues and Roots nights continue on December 21, with the “beautiful and ethereal” songs of Kathryn Luxford, accompanied by her haunting guitar playing.

Ben said: “Kathryn’s music is difficult to categorise, but is sure to leave people spellbound.”

The support performer is Jake Sleepy Segrave, a 20-year-old said to play with the assurance and passion of a veteran bluesman.

Ben said: “His gravelly voice evokes the authentic feel of the country blues artists he admires, and his knowledge of blues musicians and styles rivals that of seasoned players twice or three times his age.”

Completing the line-up will be duo Gerry Cooper and Phil Snell, seasoned performers at Ben’s concerts.
