BRITISH classic rockers FM are bringing their 30th anniversary tour to Bingley Arts Centre tonight.

The band will be supported by Three Lions, who are fronted by Bradford-born bassist Nigel Bailey and whose debut album is riding high in the European rock charts.

FM are signed to the same label, Frontiers Records, and will release their new album in spring next year.

FM were formed in the summer of 1984 over a few drinks in a London pub, and after writing six songs they secured a recording contract with the CBS/Portrait label.

They supported Meat Loaf for some shows in Germany, and made their UK debut on Valentine’s Day 1985, attracting rave reviews.

Debut album Indiscreet was hailed as a “fully fledged masterpiece” and included the mega-ballad Frozen Heart.

By the next year FM were journeying round Europe supporting the likes of Tina Turner, Foreigner, Gary Moore, Status Quo and Magnum, and opening for REO Speedwagon at London’s Hammersmith Odeon.

They finished the year supporting Bon Jovi on the Slippery When Wet tour, and a second, harder-edged album brought them even greater renown.

After the great success with other releases like Takin’ It To The Streets, Aphrodisiac and No Electricity Required, the band broke up in 1995 following their Dead Man’s Shoes album.

A reunion gig in 2007 was followed by new album Wildside and hit single Hollow, and by 2010. The band were playing to packed houses across the UK and performing at the Download Festival.

Tickets for tonight’s gig cost £18 in advance, £20 on the door. Visit ticketsource.co.uk or call 01274 567983 to book tickets.
