POLICE Dog Hogan will perform tomorrow at the Live Room in Saltaire.

The high-energy, eclectic eight-piece can be seen at the Live Room’s venue, the Caroline Street Social Club.

The band combine fiddle, banjo, mandolin, drums and guitars with four-part harmonies to provide an exuberant fusing of country, pop, folk, and rocking urban bluegrass.

The Sunday Times has described the band as “wonderful”; the Telegraph named them one of its favourite new bands, and Radio 2 called them a band to watch.

Police Dog Hogan’s “literate and superbly crafted” songs veer from the wistful and poetic to flat-out, foot-stomping tales of doomed barbecues, French mustard and falling in love on a Tennessee highway.

Founded in 2009, the band is now gigging in earnest, buoyed by a rapturous reception at festivals last summer, with appearances at Cornbury, Camp Bestival, Larmer Tree and Kendal Calling in 2012.

Police Dog Hogan’s new CD, From The Land Of Miracles, was produced by Kaiser Chief and Bloc Party producer Eliot James.

The band’s banjo player is the Guardian columnist, Tim Dowling.
